You must’ve made a great impression during your first interview, because you’ve just been invited back for a second round. Rightfully so, you’re beyond excited about being one step closer to an incredible new job.

Of course, you haven’t secured the position yet — and you likely have some tough competition — so it’s time to pull out all stops. Use this advice to put your best self forward and seriously impress the hiring team.

4 Tips to Prepare for a Second Interview

Ask for the Agenda

Chances are, you’ll be meeting with more than one person — and lunch or dinner might be involved. Having a copy of the agenda is important, so you know what to expect. It will also include the first and last names of everyone you’ll be meeting with, which will allow you to do a bit of background research to learn more about them and find common ground.

Conduct Plenty of Research

In addition to learning more about your interviewers, you’ll also want to dig deep to gather as much information as possible about the company. Review the ‘About Us’ page on the website and pages describing products or services offered, as well as the company blog, social media pages, and any recent news mentioning the organization.

Refine First Interview Responses

Since you’ll be meeting new people during this round, you’ll likely be asked several of the same questions you answered in the first interview. Try to remember as many as possible and use this to polish up your responses. This is also a great opportunity to include any pieces of information you forgot to mention the first time around.

Prepare a List of Questions

At some point in the interview, the tables will turn, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask the hiring team questions. Highlight your genuine interest in the position by asking thought-provoking questions that will help you learn more about the job — i.e., “What are your goals for the new hire in the first 90 days?” and “What does the training plan look like?” This will show them you’re serious about the job and want to make sure it’s a good fit for you.
